Defining beauty has been constantly evolving throughout ages in different parts of the world. This involves different parts of our body too – skin, nose, lips, chin, brows, and eyes. Almost every body part!

The use of Glutathione has become trending to achieve that Japanese complexion, and many companies have started distributing and importing Glutathione pills or capsules as they gained a number of customers. Even dermatological clinics have already offered Glutathione IV services and became a hit.

Rhinoplasty has also became famous, as people want to give a boost to their noses. Lips? Women are opting for that Angelina Jolie look and want to make their lips look fuller and are being lured into lip tattoo. Having cleft chin.

Eyebrow shaping? Microthreading or the tattooing of eyebrows has also been introduced, to lessen the hassle on using blades to shave and the use of eyebrow pencils too. This has made a natural, brighter, and younger look on women making them look prettier.

Now, a thing called double eyelid surgery or otherwise known as Asian blepharoplasty is already becoming popular among Asian countries, especially in Japan, Korea, and China. This is because most Asians only have single eyelids, and they believe that having a double eyelid surgery would make them look more beautiful as their eyes appear fuller.

There are two kinds of double eyelid surgery:

1. Buried suture procedure

This is the simpler kind of surgery and would only take around 30 minutes, using only partial anesthesia.

First, the doctor will examine the patient’s facial features which would become the basis for deciding what will be the size and curve of the double eyelids. The doctor will then open three small holes at the crease of the eyelids and will use a surgical line to link the eye muscle to the basal skin layer.

Recovery period for this normally takes a week, or even less.

2. Full incisional method

This is for people who have looser and fatter single eyelids. This method may be longer to do, around 45 minutes to one hour and may also take a longer time for recovery, compared with the buried suture method.

This involves removing excess fats, muscles and skin. It will also reconfigure the entire eyelid tissue, and will extend the line of the eyelid beyond the last third of the eye to make it look more natural.

This method may be considered as the best surgery to permanently reshape the eye.

Some women have been using the non-surgical method of having temporary double eyelids which is made up of a seemingly thin thread that is placed on the eyelid using a glue or tape. This requires daily effort, and the temporary double eyelid may also lose its adhesiveness which would require reapplication from time to time.

Singaporeans are no different from other Asian women when it comes to the forms of their eyes, and have also become interested in having double eyelid. Some cosmetic clinics have already started offering double eyelid surgery in Singapore because of this growing trend. Most of the surgeons performing eyelid surgery in Singapore have received high-class training from other countries to be able to specialize the art of plastic surgery. Singaporeans have now a place to go to have their double eyelid.
